When the Hollywood movie Crazy Rich Asians came out, all of Los Angeles was talking about it; not all were happy about it. Affirming the mixed reviews, Viet Thanh Nguyen, Pulitzer Prize win-ning author, coined the term “Narrative Plenitude”.
The space that Asian Americans forged in American media for our daily, mundane narratives, through this film and others to come, was to be celebrated. Plenitude of narratives reveals a three-dimentional vision of marginalised communities, inviting understanding of subtleties in their perspectives.
We drove across LA to local neighborhoods, capturing expressions, movements, and narratives from diverse perspectives. Narrative Plenitude is a movement to celebrate these diverse, unknown, rich, and ordinary narratives.
